Siris Culture/Comp/Hours/Process
Hi guys,
I’m an incoming EB analyst (didn’t change my anonymous name yet), and I wanted to learn more about Siris and their Head Hunter and more about the process.
Also would be great to learn about comp/culture/hours.
Also, what do you guys think are some comparable firms? Thanks!
Bump
Siris uses Bellcast (they only cover a handful of clients including Veritas and SK Capital off the top of my head). Believe Siris is tech focused and has done a fair amount of take privates.
Comparables (off the top of my head): Vector capital, Marlin, Clearlake, STG
I think they're the only MM tech-focused (and I mean exclusively tech) buyout firm located in NYC. Most of the others (and the more up-market funds like Golden Gate, Francisco) are on the west coast.
Anybody have any insight into comp? How it is viewed in the industry?
Worked with them on a deal - they were quite sharp.
Somebody liked Frank Baker's donation I see
Solid firm with steadily growing fund sizes. Major recent deal was Travelport with Elliott/Evergreen Coast.
Comparable to to other MM tech firms named above but less comparable in the following ways:
They do a lot more telecom deals than many of the other ~software-focused shops. A large number of their realized investments are in telecom. So a more true "TMT" shop. In that sense, they are more similar to Veritas, another NYC shop. Marlin, Francisco are unlikely to touch pure telecom businesses.
More value-oriented and don't seem to buy super-high-growth next-gen software businesses.
Middle Market but tend to do deals substantially larger than one would expect from their fund size. Marlin, STG, Vector do materially smaller deals. Francisco does similarly large deals. Travelport was $4.4bn; that is big for a $3.5bn fund. Looks like they do a few concentrated investments rather than many different smaller ones (the strategy of many middle market firms).
Process: Bellcast (confirmed above). Have heard they have a difficult modeling test (concepts and difficult time constraints).
Anyone know what's going on there post TVPT? Seems like that was a huge portion of the fund, and if I had to guess that's likely distressed or near that
