Step closer or further away?
Nontarget uni MSF student facing upcoming last summer for internships: I applied (read cold call and email) to the IBD of holding company ~ 1000 employees. I recieved a phone call from HR and scheduled a phone call with CFO as I live far from the firm. Prepared for it like a first round and killed it. Yesterday HR called and extended an offer for a summer position, which surpised me. The internship was not in their IBD group, but to work under the CFO directly. The CFO is a part of a team that sees over all sections from PWM to IBD to FIG, ect.
If I want to end up in IBD is this a step in the right direction or further away? I know I'm already up against a large hurdle coming from a nontarget in respect to FT recruiting.
Thanks for the help.
Sounds like a pretty great gig as you'll have direct exposure to C-level management as well as the IBD group. Assuming you don't have anything lined up I'd take it
