StepStone Real Estate
Does anyone have any insight into StepStone's real estate group or what it is like working there? I know they primarily do fund investments and recaps, but I am curious to hear what others have to say anecdotally.
Would working at a shop with this strategy pigeon hole me from ever going back to a true acquisitions shop? For reference, I am currently an acquisitions analyst at a MM REPE firm.
Hey Analyst 2 in RE - Comm, I'm here because nobody responded to this thread after a few days...maybe one of these resources will help you:

Hope that helps.
Solid advisor, don't know which group the role would be in but they do co-investments on individual deals that would be similar to your current work. Smart, savvy team of ex-acquisition types from my personal experience.
Regarding being pigeon holed, if you've been in long enough to really know the acq side and could source deals yourself that's an easy transition back, otherwise expect to go back in as an analyst. Everyone needs capital and if you can still do the deal side and have institutional equity connections you're a golden goose.
They won't operate an asset, but they haved moved towards more of a JV model. Deals like the below http://www.generationcompanies.com/index.php/news/generation_completes_…
