Strategy consulting to investment banking operations

I have recently started working in strategy consulting for a boutique consulting firm.
In my day to day activities currently I am working on an ongoing project looking at things like financial statements, mergers and acquisition opportunities, market trends, corporate strategy etc. . on behalf of a large global firm.

I don't want to be in consulting anymore, I have always wanted to work in finance but being realistic I wont get into investment banking or private equity.
I am looking at back office functions.
How hard would it be for me to get into operations in a bulge bracket bank?

Why in the world would you want to work in the back office of a bank when you're currently in strategy consulting? Please do not do this, it would be a terrible mistake. Why would you want to work in the back office of a bank? Being in strategy consulting puts you in an infinitely better position to break into IB or PE than working in ops at a BB.

 

Thanks for the comment. What if I see ops as the end point and forget about IB.

At the moment I am figuring out and looking at different career options. I can see myself being in ops.

Would it be hard to lateral into ops from strategy consulting? What sort of things should I focus on?
