The not-so-well-known IB arm of Wells Fargo: the Private Bank MM M&A advisory
So I learned something super interesting today...
Wells Fargo has two different and distinct IB arms.
The regular (and more well-known one) is part of Wells Fargo Securities, which falls under the Wholesale Banking business group. But today I learned about the Wells Fargo Advisors middle market M&A advisory team, which is part of the Private Bank and under the Wealth and Investment Management business group. This is a totally different and distinct IB team from the WFS IB team.
Google "wells fargo advisors m&a advisory" for more info.
I found out about this because I applied for the Summer 2018 WIM undergraduate program and saw that there were two positions for MM M&A advisory. This seemed strange to me because WIM is basically PWM and pipelines interns into the financial advisor and private banker program (though some interns go into other business groups like the Investment Institute research group, Abbot Downing, Asset Management, etc.).
Apparently, this IB team is part of the Private Bank, which is a group of FAs who work specifically with super high net worth clientele with net worths of $10mil+. Do other banks have MM IB teams that are a part of their PWM or FA groups? My guess is that a lot of these hnw clientele are also business owners, and that there is some demand for IB services. In this case, going to your personal FA for IB services would make for a convenient one-stop shop type experience, but I've never heard of any kind of business practice like this. Is this a current trend that I'm missing out on?
Has anybody else ever heard of this IB group? Does anybody know how comp/hours compare to WFS IB?
Sounds shady and not legit at all.
I was just trying to figure this out, thank you for the post. http://www.blosserreederfsg.com/files/89212/Business-Advisory-Services-…
Here is a pdf explanation of the business I found.
