The pandemic screwed me over

Hello everyone,

I graduated in December 2019, my final summer before graduating, I interned as a corporate strategy summer analyst in a BB where I networked throughout the bank and positioned myself for success (at least that's what I thought) and I did an IB internship before but outside the US in a boutique bank. After graduating, I did super days for a couple of positions but the one I had in hand with a BB got cancelled because the group got downsized (covered entertainment). Most companies that I interviewed in were either in a global hiring freeze or just not recruiting at that time. I eventually landed a consulting position in a big technology firm where I thought I would get experience while the world goes back to some kind of normal instead of not doing anything because I did not apply to master programs as I was getting interviewed for the jobs I wanted. I am currently trying to do the jump back to finance as more banks are hiring again. I gained great experience and exposure at the technology firm I am working at now but I do not want to stay for long as I am interested in finance more and I do not want to be pigeonholed to be the IT/Tech person. I am currently actively recruiting for roles and my second option would be to go back and do a masters if I am not able to land a position even though I am pushing for the first option. The pandemic pushed me to accept the role I am in currently but I do not want the pandemic to push me away from the career I envisioned for myself. I am writing this post to get any advice and insights. Thank you!
