Through a friend I was able to receive the below watch at a steep discount. However, I am a little weary on the gold. What are your thoughts? Appropriate in the workplace?

Plus, buying a watch new is always a terrible option, go buy a used Tag Heuer on ebay for $900 and get a killer watch.

EDIT: The only watch you should be buying at Nordstrom is a $20 Armitron -- seriously.
To be more clear, I got the watch at 1/5 of the price. I figured if I don't like it then I could possibly flip it and get a more suitable watch.
I'll never understand the trend of wearing wall clocks on your wrist.
I have a vintage Omega Seamaster that I bought for about $600, and I doubt I'll ever need another watch.
Also, if you're going to get a watch, do it right and make sure you're not buy a "fashion" brand (ie: BOSS, Versace, Burberry, etc.)
A $100 Seiko 5 is a much better choice.
This sounds like a fantastic idea.
Don't buy a fashion watch (esp an ugly fashion watch like that). Flip it and buy a seiko, movado, tissot, tag, etc
I picked up a Victorinox Swiss army watch on sale for $600 and I couldn't be happier. All silver with black face, very appropriate for work and wear it out casually as well. Not to flashy, but a nice sleek watch

Awful watch. Why are you going to pay big money for the brand just because it is associated with high-end clothing? Go with a quality watch brand.

Ironically just saw an add from Nordstrom for that exact watch on WSO. But get a different one.

If you really fell in love with that watch I don't see a reason why you couldn't wear it at work. It's brown and gold and a bit oversized, so what? A project manager I work with wears his Breitling everyday which looks enormous as well. Who would judge you because of your watch?

Woof, stay away from anything designer brand related when it comes to watches. I laugh when Ive seen someone wearing a 12K+ Chanel J12. You can have a serious watch, both reputable and a great automatic movement for 4K
I don't like the "edge of a quarter" detailing around the face and on the dials.
Whenever I see people with Burberry watches, I know they bought it because of the brand affiliation and are quite proud of it. So I always try to comment on it as if I were impressed because that, without fail, boosts their egos...but deep inside, I think to myself that they wasted their money. Guess we have different utility curves for these watches.
PS. This one is particularly unattractive on an absolute basis.
