TIMELINE for London SA

Hi,
Just wanted to understand better the timeline in London for an IB SA.
I know that applications starts in August-September and that the first rounds are held in October-November.
But after that?
When is the second round/assessment center held?
Thank you

The process vastly differs for different firms, due to the variety of application opening dates: JP/MS/GS open their apps a lot earlier than the others (June-July) but all applications are open by early Sep.

From then it really depends, I got through the whole of a process for an EB by early October (and the firm had more than one AC), whereas got through whole of recruiting for Top US BB in Mid December. I'd say ACs can happen between August up to as late as Couple Months into the new year.

Early bird gets the worm mostly in London Recruiting, so the only thing I would say to you is apply as early as you can and you should be fine!

curious - how about the FT recruitment timings in the UK?

FT recruitment timelines are slightly quicker than SA - banks try to fill up their FT positions (whichever few they may have left from kids who didn't take offers / if they had a disappointing class / if they allocate a few spots for FT-only) before they begin the bulk of their SA interviews/AC's.

Expect FT to be a bit accelerated on the timeline so if you are skipping the SA boat and trying to jump straight into FT make sure your ducks are in a row.

Right now its only May so you have time to get prepped - especially since this year with the economy the way it is will be tough.

Generally speaking, applications will be open from late July to mid Sep. They will be open for longer but a lot of banks review on rolling basis so you want to get in the door fast. Do your networking from now until summer because you want people in the business going to bat for you. Network with VP and upwards to help your app get pushed, network with analysts / associates to learn more about the business and firm to make sure it is (a) what you want and (b) you can come in to interviews with much more 'insider' knowledge about the place.

Expect first round interviews from October on and AC's will follow shortly. Aim to have an offer by December, January latest as some EBs are slower than BBs as I believe was already previously noted.
