Top Gear Fans?

I was wondering what kind of cars the members of WSO like? I was thinking that most members would like a nice European car compared to a classic America Muscle car. So what do you drive right now? And what do you like? Would you rather have have raw power or cruise in comfort?
For me I would have to choose between the new Ferrari 458 Italia, or the Mercedes S63 AMG

Jeremy Clarkson is one step short of God.

That said, I'm a huge fan of British engineering. I love Jaguars, old and new. Beautiful construction and performance, shoddy build quality aside. I'd love a mint condition E-type or a brand new XKR.

That said, I drive a 2009 Mercedes E350, so I'm a traitor I guess. I can't afford unreliable British cars @ this point in my life. Maybe when I graduate...

You harp on Jag build quality and reliability, and yet you drive a Merc....

I'd agree with you, pre-2008. I honestly do believe Mercedes has solved their quality/manufacturing issues in the past few years. Navigation system is still horrible but I still love big, loud Benz engines. Too much was optional too, they still suck with the standard features sitch, even on E-classes.

And some more I haven't listed.

Amen. Watching it on the Top Gear test made me want to drive one sooooo bad.

love that show. best thing i ever discovered..

Best Show Ever.

Could do without the "celebrity in a reasonably priced car"

Jeremy is the most entertaining man i've ever seen (no homo)

Its probably the classiest car show on the planet.

Dream car: GT2RS Current (realizable) 5 year goal: 996 Turbo or 964 Turbo or F360

Current (realizable) 5 year goal: 996 Turbo or 964 Turbo or F360

I prefer the feel of the 964 Turbo much more than the current flagship 911's of today. There's something about driving a RR format with no driver aides that's just tantalizing. The 996 Turbo is pretty softcore in terms of turbocharged Porsches; a 944 Turbo is more fun to drive than a 996 Turbo and at a fraction of the cost to run.

The 360 has nothing on the 355 too; those idiot engineers at Ferrari couldn't resist putting F1 technology in the 360 road cars... Williams revolutionized the sport with their paddlebox, Ferrari ruined road cars by putting it on every damn model they manufacture and now most manufacturers today use them in some form. Rory Byrne, while an engineering genius and F1 legend, holds much responsibility in ruining Ferrari's road car department in the last 10 years.

355 is a beautiful machine, but I can't resist the lines of the 360. Its the beginning of the "new shape" of the F cars. And I think the 360 was still offered in a 6 speed (god i love the gated shifter look)

But your right, an older porsche is just raw. no annoying TCS to turn off when you wanna break it loose. But you can't deny that a 997 flat 6 TT runing a 0-60 time in just a little bit over a Veyron's time is just insane

911 Turbo is just quick as balls. Its pretty too

The specials are wildly entertaining (Trek across South America, The $1000 cars driving from Miami to New Orleans, the Middle East Xmas Special, etc.).

Have to go with a Porsche 911 Turbo Cab personally though. Thats what I'm working for. The clause to buy one instead of saving for any of my future children's college education will be a dealbreaker in a pre-nup!

Amber Heard on Top Gear was awesome btw, nearly as much as Amber Heard in The Informers...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to some old muscle cars and some small roadsters... yes, quite the dichotomy of preferences.

For all of you Top Gear fans, here [

, Part 2] is a special segment they did on one of F1's most dynamic drivers. Take note of some of the commentary by James Hunt.

The movie SENNA should be coming out soon. It covers him thoroughly, and apparently its one of the best racing films ever made. Clarkson said he used to think Schumacher was the best F1 racer until he watched the Senna documentary. He changed his mind afterwards.
