Top under the radar hedge funds

Question

I hear quite frequently that some of the best performing hedge funds are those that fly under the radar and are relatively unknown to the general public. I was wondering if anyone knew any of these such funds? I am sure it would be of use to the community to have a better idea of the HF space and widen our view beyond that of the typical Citadels of the world.

Are you actually stupid? I was implicitly agreeing with you that almost anyone would do well running a long biased tech equity portfolio. That was literally my original post - "but then again, what L/S tech fund hasn't been crushing it. their big winners are some of the obvious tech candidates."

If plenty of baboons can convince LPs to pay 2/20, then why don't they? What is this third world country bullshit. You sound super salty. Career success is about taking advantage of the opportunities afforded to you. The luck is the opportunity not the prize.

I don’t think these guys really operate with a benchmark - their 20% performance fees don’t have a hurdle rate or anything. but yes a lot of it is vol-y and FAANG+ but because they do run a bunch of tech shorts as well they manage to do ok month to month on the vol front. it’s just if you look at their 13-D...it’s like is it rocket science or common sense. I still think the former for now solely because they’re making money and taking that risk and as soon as it turns against them (if it ever does and they can’t maneuver), then LPs will redeem like there’s no tomorrow. Look at Pointstate.
