Transition from Commercial Banking to Wealth Advisory
This might be a shot in the dark, but I thought I would ask.
I am interviewing next week for a Private Bank Associate position with JPM Private Bank. It’s a great opportunity, and will allow me to lean of a few of my strengths (relationship building, portfolio management, sourcing business), and give me the opportunity to move on from my current post (which is fine, but slightly less challenging) as a relationship manager for Citi MMB.
In a prior life, for 3 years, I worked in investment banking (a small boutique firm), and had a great time sourcing deals, building relationships, and crafting models and pitch books. Many of those skills are key duties to this new position, however that was 3 years ago, and for the past 3 I have been on the commercial banking side, where I have been performing somewhat the same functions, but for different purposes.
The long and short of my question is, how can I express what I do as a relationship manager on the corporate/commercial banking side to what the new job will require in the individual/wealth advisory side? They both hinge on the ability to manage relationships, but how else can I convey my last experience makes me a fit for this position?
