Where are you currently located? How badly do you want to go into physical commodities trading? How big is your PE fund? What are you exactly doing at your PE fund?
Assuming that you are an analyst at a MM PE fund, I think it is going to be quite hard to get something in physical commodities trading. You'll probably have to look into smaller shops. Networking will be a key here. Additionally, you should try to make use of any family connections you may have or friends who work in the industry. You could give cold calling a shot, but it won't work too well in Geneva/Amsterdam/rest of continental europe
I indeed work 2-5bn shop as an analyst and currently would like to get some insight in the sector (I believe that this sector is a perfect fit for me, talent-wise)
I was more referring to graduate positions, as i believe that my pe skillset isn't transferable. And that you need to learn commodities from the ground up (which graduates do). Was just wondering if someome knew somebody who did this or if shops would see someome with pe experience as a potential good fit.
Thx
