Junior folks are associates in ER. Associates highly unlikely get to do overseas trips, only senior analyst (the MD) gets to do overseas marketing trips.

Some sector associates travel more than others because of trade shows / company events in the sector (eg. for semi / software, a lot of company events to attend to that have an Analyst day component).

Generally, the biggest trip each year is for your MD's annual conference, which could be held in locations like Vegas.

How much travelling would you say there is for for junior levels up till vp? It can be trips overseas or even travelling around town, meeting clients/investors/management around town or getting out of the office to attend events. Any idea if you get to travel more than IB?

No idea whether IB or ER juniors travel more. If you like to travel, consider management consulting

Your primary tasks as ER junior are 1) writing notes 2) updating models 3) being your analyst's secretary / IT support 4) talking to salespeople. So no, not a whole lot of traveling. At some shops, VPs have coverage so they will start traveling to different cities for marketing.

I have never done a single overseas trip on company money. Some sector juniors travel more because they have conferences to attend to (I think semi and software are notorious sectors for that), because their senior analyst cannot attend three conferences that are going on at the same time.

If there is a group client lunch that your boss hosts or sales are hosting, you could be given a seat. You definitely get to go to your senior analyst's conference because you will be helping out anyways.
