I just wish we continued to elect worthless pigs who have no work history. Or listen to the traitors working for the “news”.

Can’t wait to see revised NAFTA terms as well. Typical politicians who think a deal that is over 25 years old shouldn’t be renegotiated. Nothing could have changed over those years.

Trump will not get the Nobel Peace Prize no matter how successful the resolution of the North Korea negotiations.

The committee which votes on the award is comprised of Norwegian eggheads and politicians, none of whom would enjoy the worldwide abuse which would inevitably follow an award to Trump.

Not only that, if they gave the prize to Trump, he'd have to share it with Kim Jong Un, his "partner in peace." Giving the peace prize to such a murderous tyrant would cause an even greater outcry than giving it to Trump.

In 1973, the peace prize was awarded jointly to Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho for ending the Vietnam War. Two years after the award, North Vietnam restarted the war and overran the south. Le Duc Tho returned his prize medal, but Kissinger kept his. The reputation of the prize and the group awarding it never really recovered.

Excellent points which bring up the fact that this is a very thorny and volatile area. Kim Jong is effectively a man boy running a country he earned primarily by bloodline. Trump is Trump. You can award these two a Nobel Peace price and years later the world could be up in flames if things don't go so well. Who knows.

I honestly hope he doesn't get the award. It will merely paint the entire nobel org as an absolute sham, which it just so happens it is. I would feel bad for the people on the science side if half of those awards in recent years haven't been political hack jobs as well. Puts the org in a hilarious spot that they can't possibly come out looking good.

This poster is 100% correct.

OP is correct in noting that Obama did literally nothing (actually he made things worse) to """earn""" it, although he misses the point wherein he answers his own question. The Prize has nothing to do with Peace at all. It only has to do with Politics, and whether you are a part of the rootless international elite, or not. """Kissinger""" with the """PEACE PRIZE""" tells you all you need to know.

If you are in favor of Global Liberal Hegemony you are the enemy.

If what we're seeing from NoKo is for real, and denuclearization happens with assurances for peace moving forward, Trump certainly deserves the award in my mind. I don't know what to make of NoKo or understand them well enough to feel confident that what we're seeing is on the level though. Of course I hope it is, but sometimes I'm a bit cynical.

If you're curious, below is a link to the description of why Obama won his Peace Prize. The description is dated October 2009, so he had only been in office for 9 months or so. Not surprisingly, it uses words like "vision," "new climate," and says Obama is now the "leading spokesman" for the policy and attitudes the Nobel Committee has tried to promote. No specific accomplishments are listed.

My theory is as follows with NK.

1) Trumps unpredictability, Mattis, the rhetoric, bombing Syria, etc all let NK and China know military force might be used. Plus the fact he could use this to change the impeachment discussion adds further risk.

2) regime change - China isn’t going to allow NK to be invaded. NK doesn’t need nukes to ensure their existence. Neither China or SK really wants full reunification anyway.

3) Sanctions are really hurting now and China is pretty sick of their shit.

4) NK nuclear capabilities are limited at best. His facility collapsed, it’s an albatross.

What is sad is the fact that Trump will get limited credit, even though he deserves it. If Republicans could stop fighting for a minute, Trump could really get some great things done. Imagine if Dems could stop being babies and work with Trump. Get infrastructure passed or something.

How naive will you be in your pursuit of a chance to suck the emperor's balls?

China reigned in their vassal state so they could reap the economic benefit of a Korean peninsula that's open for business. They're using this to ensure continued growth. It's a win for China, the DPRK, and South Korea. Was Kim on a train to DC? I thought it was Beijing he showed up at before any decisions were made.

Oh no wait - hold up. I see it now. Once I vacate my cranium of any brain matter, I can see how:

1) The same rhetoric they've put up with, globally, since 1953, might scare them into submission. Good grief, how'd I miss that.

2) The threat of a war that everyone on planet Earth knows the US is in no position to afford would really sway Chinese decision making. Easy logic there.

3) Sanctions that are routinely ignored by Russia and China to keep vital organs of the DPRK functioning are totally taking effect now. I get it. It's not the citizens those sanctions hurt - Kim himself is asking for bread and water, and he just can't get any because of Trump.

4) The site failure lead Kim to come home to daddy, AKA Trump, and NOT China, who basically is literally daddy to the DPRK. Copy.

Gee willickers man, you really set the record straight there. Who needs common sense? MAGA.

in it 2 win it

blah blah blah. How far will you go to not give the sitting president any credit.

Liberals are such a joke. Obviously Trump didn’t do this alone. But prior administrations policy of appeasement has allowed NK to get to this point.

And so what if their testing facility collapsed? Do they still not have nuclear weapons? Everything they’ve learned with their ICBM tests hasn’t been forgotten. KJU could easily rebuild and continue.

Sorry pal, but if this happens it will happen under Trump. Pompeno visiting was no coincidence. SK President is resoundly giving Trump credit.

No worries though. I’m sure this dillusion will be ate up in the leftist alcoves of this country. Actual Americans will see the truth.

Wow. You're a complete and utter ignoramus. China is not happy in the least about this summit. Have you followed the Chinese state press?? The last thing China wants to do is to "reign in its vassal state" and see peace in the Koreas and a re-united Korea. Having a hostile state right on its border is the last thing China wants.

The DPRK is completely and utterly bankrupt, thanks in large part to U.S. sanctions. The DPRK has no cash. Without cash the Kim family can't continue to buy domestic allies. The DPRK's bankruptcy combined with the South Korean administration's desperation to see the Koreas unite (it's a key part of Moon's philosophy) and Trump's insanity have created the perfect storm that has allowed this summit to occur.

The worthiness of said award is not relevant here. The entire point of this post is about the hypocriscy of the Noble committie if they don't give the award to Trump and if they do the crying that will ensue.

The fact is that this administration had nothing to do with what's happening in North Korea beyond Kim Jong Un doing this to spite Trump. Now of course the cynical people running our country get to send Pompeo to take some pictures with Kim Jong Un to trick the morons into thinking Trump had anything to do with this. And guess what it worked because so many people in this country (such as you) would never question a Republican government under any circumstance. You just love the Republican Party so much it's bizarre.

Actually it wouldn't surprise me at all if Trump admires Kim for the way he controls his country. That's the ultimate dream for the Republican Party and we know they already love Putin (I mean Anthony you spend half your time here now defending the Russian government cuz they helped your team win). I do have a much better idea than giving Trump the Nobel Peace Prize. It's called a firing squad. For treason.

Ahhh waiting for this absurd bullshit. Whatever, go have a panic attack because this is potentially happening under Trump.

Plain fact is NK coming to the edge of having an ICBM threat was the results of past administrations. The fact that NK is talking is 100% in part because of the pressure Trump has put on NK and China. Furthermore, the possibility of an attack with a Trump is real.

I advocate liberals denying it though. Further identify yourself as anti American to all the voters in this country.

No, you're right, this has nothing to do with DPRK being insolvent and bankrupt and everything to do with "spite" of Trump. Seriously, what planet do you live on?

Lol guys, I found the clueless liberal!

Apparently Trump pretty much threatening to blow up NK had nothing to do with Kim coming to the table. Nor did the sanctions.

Side comment, but I’ll chalk this up to you being drunk.

Advocating for the President to be shot by a firing squad? If this isn’t absolute lunacy, I don’t know what is.

Treason against American people. Sure. Tax cuts, trying to bring jobs back from China, advocating for an end of the Korean War. Absolute treason.

Fucking joke.

TNA:
If NK denuclearizes, Trump will get a nomination for the Nobel. Considering Obama got it for absolutely nothing, Trump should absolutely get one.

How many gallons of liberal tears will be shed if this happens?

Of course Trump won't get the Peace Prize. If Trump cured cancer, repulsed an extraterrestrial invasion, and ushered in world peace the pinhead elitist know-nothings would give him no credit. These are the same sub-human scum who intellectually aided the Soviet Union and said Ronald Reagan would usher in a nuclear holocaust. The global left-wing "elite" have been wrong about virtually every foreign policy topic for 100 years.

Are people actually saying that if Trump gets a Nobel Peace award, Kim Jong Un should/would get one as well?? lol W...T...F?!?!

Be a maniac, and threaten international security with WMDs, then agree to stop your absolute insanity and get an award for it!? Uh no...

Kim Jong Un is literally the absolute last person that should be getting ANY award even if a comprehensive de-nuclearization plan does come out of this that he agrees to. He and his regime are the entire cause of the hostility. If he was actually interested in peace, Kim would have started these talks when he took office, instead of propagating videos showing the US getting nuked. This is only happening now because the hammer is starting to fall on him.

They are using the logic that north Vietnam got one with kissenger. So it would go to follow that all three parties would get a Nobel prize.

They could give it to just Trump, Trump and SK, whatever. Reality is they will give it to rapper or that Hogg kid because it’s a joke honor nowadays.

IYI. Bunch of people who read a lot of books and done very little.

What has Bush or Obama done in life? Most of the politicians? Bunch of paper pushers.

Republicans piss and moan for 6-7 years about Obamacare and do zero when they have the chance. Thank god tax reform got done.

3 administrations have sanctioned NK, attempted to pressure China, and what? NK went from no capabilities to missile delivered capabilities. Now they want to talk and Trump did nothing. Sureeeee.

Trumps an idiot who went to Wharton and created an empire. He’s criticized by people who studied journalism or other shit subjects. Bunch of Pussies.

You love to scoff at Obamacare. But Trump hasn't fixed it. Nor DACA. Nor really even taxes for workers. The lobbyists won that battle. And instead, the deficit is ballooning further.

And, China is one of the most state engineered countries ever, the people believe they have a real place at the top of human history, I don't think Trump can direct them anywhere. They're moving into position as power broker, and that's all this is, plain and simple. Trump makes the US look weak.

Putin didn't start his official direct military campaign until after Trump began campaigning. I really can't see how all of this is going to turn the world, but Trump does not look to be winning, no matter how hard you try to find some evidence of the opposite.

NK didn't even start elevating its rhetoric and putting the world on edge until Trump. That definitely sped up the process, because who wants two of the same bag of nuts having a pissing contest? Plus, I'm sure China saw this as an excellent opportunity to move into its desired role, much as Putin did.

And on trade, no one thinks these tariffs will hold up in the WTO. This war can potentially spiral out of control, and WTO can lose its symbolic significance on free and open trade.

Economically, we're at risk, because how do we know the ramifications to the trade scene that's probably going to continue to worsen? It's good in some ways, because China needs to correct its bad behavior. But, again, not sure they have the intent to do so instead of entering a trade war.

Based on Trump's lack of triumphs on policy or anywhere for that matter, with exception to the border wall, I don't see how Trump specifically is winning. Hopefully the US will be more successful in the long-term, but I don't see it for the Trump era.

And if you look at the citizenship in this country, people are not divided in anyone's head anymore. It's pretty loud and clear everywhere you look. Kids are walking out of schools over an outdated gun issue. Because, no matter how you split it up, it sounds stupid to not even temporarily cut off the "assault" weapons that really have no use for normal civilians.

And, Trump's political ambitions would've served him well to have made friends. Instead, "scorched-earth" accurately depicts how he's handled the spotlight. People that are citizens under their leader aren't winning, so again, don't see how Trump is winning.

Lastly, I don't even think SK or Aussie are sincere in giving Trump credit. Wasn't that same prime minister just mocking Trump? Pretty sure these are American allies saying no to China as their power broker, which again is only gaining territory.

EDIT: Also, we're digging deeper into a Palestinian situation that's only worsening. At least Obama took a more neutral stance so as to not fall on the wrong side of history again.

The Iran deal stands out as a success. In exchange for lifting some sanctions Iran gave the world 24/7 access and monitoring of it's nuclear program (with the ability to expand their scope into any suspected site), reduced their centrifuges down to 5,060, it gave up 98% of it's uranium (they already had enough to build 10 bombs, now they don't), and agreed to not enrich uranium beyond 3.67% (90% is needed for weapons). The key criticisms I've read have largely been based on intentional misinformation hoping their audience isn't actually familiar with the deal and more inclined to believe partisan vitriol. One can only hope that something similar will occur on the Korean Peninsula, and it's worth noting that acting in bad faith toward the Iran deal strains credibility toward an NK deal.

Dennis Rodman is the REAL reason North Korea is moving towards denuclearization. His ground-breaking trips in 2013 & 2017 laid the foundation for where we are in U.S. - North Korea relations, our president even praised these trips. Dennis Rodman for the Nobel peace prize. I, for one, hope he shows up to accept the award in a wedding dress.

The problem, as I see it, is that Trump and his administration are just not great negotiators. We saw it with the failed DACA deal where he had his wall from Schumer/Pelosi and still turned it down.

Here's the problem: Fox/GOP/Trump admin have already starting popping champagne and wondering about a Nobel prize before we've even started negotiations. Yes, they have a great opportunity. Yes, it was a strong-armed approach that created this situation (although don't get it twisted, NK has asked to meet with every president since Bush Sr.)

But Trump's admin are also desperate for a foreign policy win and NK knows this. Thus, in my opinion, I believe that they have ceded their leverage in these negotiations.

Also, TNA - you catch a lot more flies with honey. Explain to people your perspective instead of treating your points like bullets to be shot, and maybe you can be convincing. When you yell shit like "Libtards", you sound like an insufferable douche. It sounds like you have this image of liberals as all pink-haired whiners who are given everything and don't want to work for anything . I promise you, this is far from the case. We tend to let our caricatures of the other side paint the entire group, but by doing this you only serve to become more of a caricature yourself.

We all just want to lead good lives and help create the best society we possibly can. We may have different interpretations of each part of that, but that is something to debate. When you get personal, as you and others have on this thread, we're not debating anymore.
