Two-Part Question
How alive is the modern day brokerage business? Are there still stock brokers spending all day cold-calling and developing a book of clients and managing their accounts?
Forgive me if the question is stupid. However, I interviewed with a firm the other day in South Florida for a StockBroker position. When I researched the firm the website showed all signs that it was more of a Financial Advisory firm with estate planning and retirement services. In the interview I was pleasantly surprised to find out they were updating the website, and were a "brokerage house" that serviced the high net worth and super-high net worth clients who had large sums of money that they could "play" with. The owner went on to tell me that they were a short term investment team that played their funds with volatility, holding positions no longer than 4 or 6 months at the most.
Anyway, they gave me the offer and I am excited, however a little cautious. Should I be?
Thanks
