Ultimate Career Goal
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what would be a good fit for me in the long run based on my description below.
Currently 21, I am going into IB this summer with a MM bank and know I will do all it takes to get the ft offer. Assume I get the ft offer and either stay at this bank or go elsewhere for a 2 yr IB stint.
I ultimately want to get married when I am 25-28, want to have kids while I am still young so that as they grow I can play with them, teach them sports and spend time with the family.
I would like to either open up my own small business or work a prestigious 9-5 ( if this even exists)
I know for a fact I do not want to do IB for more than 2 yrs, and am only doing this because I am interested in the job but not the lifestyle. I know everyone has a number in terms of salary they would need to be satisfied. When I have a family and kids I am looking to make atleast 300k.
I would want something that is like a 9-6 or 9-7 max. I want to have a good work life balance. I was thinking of f500 corp fin, strategy, m&a, and business development. If I want to go to corp fin ultimately would it matter if I did IB at a known MM or a BB? Also do those positions pay around 100-200k after a 2yr ib stint?
Boi some one didn't just drink the kool aid they smashed it, refilled the bowl and then smashed that also
you will make a perfect monkey OP
300K and 9-5? I am going to CBS for my MBA this fall but work for a Fortune 25 company in corporate finance. The only people making 150K+/year are senior managers or executives. These are also people who have been with the company 10 years or have MBA's and 3-5 years of experience with firm after. So your goal seems a little fetched from at least my own personal experience.
In Corp. Fin, after you 2 year stint, you're most likely going to look at the 150K range. and maybe work your way up to 300K around your mid 30s.
Quick question Do you already have a girlfriend? if not, don't rush this whole marriage thing bro.
we dont know for sure if OP is male...
Its actually more likely the person is female based on the OPs post. Watch this TED talk by Sheryl Sandberg:

Well if you find such a job feel free to share it with the rest of us. Good luck to you.
.
Thats pretty impressive that you can pick an age range where you're going to marry the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
Look into corporate development that is all.
