Wait for a promotion or jump ship as an analyst?
Just started my 3rd year as an analyst about 12 months out from a promotion, work at a mega developer and this is my first job post grad.
I’ve had the opportunity to join a REPE firm, but as analyst.
It seems like a great opp but I hate the idea of resetting the clock as an analyst.
What are the consequences of doing so?
How does a switch like this effect oops going forward?
I’m at 90k all in right now and have decided I will not leave for less than 110k, it’s just not worth it to me. As great as the opp may be, it’s not without risk.
Any REPE analyst pulling that much? I have no idea what comp is like outside of my firm.
Hi!
Not experienced at all, I'm interning in DCM (RE at Amundi before) planning to move to REPE but I read a lot of stuff about REPE, and as a 3rd Year analyst even in a small shop, from what I saw you'll reach your 110k all in!
Do you want to work in development or REPE?
Yeah this really comes down to which side of the business you want to be on.
I want to be in REPE doing acquisitions. Some suggest, even though my end goal is acquisitions, that I’ll have an easier time making the move after getting promoted once in my current role.
Which side are you on?
Is the analyst role in acquisitions? If yes take it if not don't take it.
110 is very doable at a medium/large company but you're probably going to working 55+ hours. With 3 years your base is probably 80-90 and bonuses really depend on the company
That’s fine, I’m ok with thoughts hours and honestly they’re not far off from my current hours.
Do you know what the comp range is typically for an REPE analyst 3rd year in a top 10 metro (non NYC, SFO, LAX)
What’s reasonable base pay? Bonus? Singing bonus?
I'm from NYC. 90-110 common, bonuses depend on shop. Signing bonus yes (some places you have to be good at negotiating). I recently interviewed for an associate position that paid 225 all in and I had 1.5 years experience but this was an outlier I would say. Some tips: don't be afraid to ask for a higher salary/sign on/bonus and don't be afraid to walk away from the offer unless you're desperate to leave current job
