General Disarray:
What's up with the 3 mins of silence on illest mfuckers?

So annoying....I can never play it in my car...because I always think my iPhone is broken. Also I think I'll just edit that shit out.

If you're using iTunes, just right click on the song>get info>options>set start time to 3:00.

And thanks for the source link, forgot to add that in.

I didn't like it when it first released and thought it was way worse than MBDTF/Late Registration/Blueprint/Reasonable Doubt/etc. but it's definitely grown on me since then. I like how most of the songs on it have two or more beats, so it's not just 3 seconds of music looped endlessly like the average rap song, and almost every beat knocks in the car. It could've been more lyrical, but then again, the primary purpose was to create music that flaunted their wealth and pro-blackness, both of which were done. My favorite tracks are Murder to Excellence, New Day, and IMA. BTW that Kanye/RZA beat on New Day autotuning Nina Simone is something special IMO. Didn't vibe with That's My Bitch or Made in America as much. All in all, I think it's a solid album and worth getting if you're a fan of either of the two artists.

Murder to excellence is my favourite track. Despite Kanye's stellar production, I'm still disappointed by the lame lyrics. Jay-Z is just coasting at this point his career. This album could've been an all-time classic if more effort was put into it.

Agreed. Although some verses have much deeper meanings when you look under the surface (i.e. Hov's on No Church in the Wild) and some lines were very witty (lots of double/triple entendres), the album could've been much more lyrical overall (Kanye has never been a lyricist, but Jay could've taken it to the next level with some Reasonable Doubt lyricism). However, my main knock against the album is the subject matter in that there was too much of "we're richer than you" and name dropping Hermes//Maybach/Le Meurice/Hublot/etc., a reason why Murder to Excellence and New Day were two of my favorite tracks, since they actually address meaningful topics.

BTW I recommend checking out the Otis music video if you haven't done so. Simple and effective. Definitely the happiest I've seen Jay in a long time

"Buellar had a Muller but I switched it for a Mille 'cause I'm richer, and prior to this shit was moving freebase."

  1. Franck Muller watch
  2. Richard Mille watch, which he's pronouncing as "milli" 'cause he's richer
  3. Richer, which he's pronouncing as Richard
  4. Prior, which he's pronouncing as Pryor
  5. Richard Pryor starred in a movie called 'Moving' in 1988 and also suffered severe burns in 1980 while freebasing cocaine.

Going HAM.

I hate those 3 minutes of illest, I thought my copy was messed up at first. Otis is good, but I didn't like it at first. However Ni**as in Paris was sick right from the beginning. It is provocative haha
