West coast MSRE/MRED programs?

My friend is looking at MBA programs and MSRE programs on the west coast. He has no experience in finance or real estate. What programs are his best bet to transition into a real estate career even if it's to an analyst position?

USC MRED requires too much real estate work experience.

Pepperdine MSRE or USD MSRE? I have no clue how good the career center is or how these programs are received.

I know Berkeley started an MRED program but not sure how good they are at getting people decent jobs in real estate.

What about UCLA? They seem to have an interesting real estate MBA program.

They're legit too. I don't personally know anyone there, but do a LinkedIn search and I would bet you see impressive people. They also have the UCLA REAG (Real Estate Alumni Group).

I don't think he'll get in and he hates spending money. Most of the top 15 programs will probably be too expensive. I think he'd be very lucky to get into a top 15 MBA program even with a 700-720 GMAT anyways.. He's been teaching tennis for the last 5 years and is in the asian pool. While he did go to a top 3 liberal arts school, his gpa is a 3.2-3.3 range. He's at a point where he needs to decide on what he wants before pursuing an MBA or even an MSRE. But I've been showing him some options for schools/programs as he is intrigued by real estate.
