What minor should I go for as a Business Major for banking etc?

Hi everyone, I'm a freshman from NYU which I guess is a good school to get into banking. I'm a little ahead of the curve with my required credits, and I'm free to choose some classes. At this point I was wondering if Statistics would be a minor worth getting into because I enjoyed the required class I had this term. From what I know CS is also a good option but I don't see myself enjoying it. Would a minor in Statistics provide me with a good skillset for investment banking or other types of jobs? Are there any other options I should consider and you think would be better?

I know the rule of thumb is that networking and GPA are more important, but I don't want to take random classes to get a good GPA and feel like getting a minor would be more worth for the money I'm paying for my education. Please feel free to correct me, I'm very not-knowledgeable about this stuff!

Thank you for your time.

I don't think you necessarily need to minor in anything but I do see a lot of business + CS guys in IB. Can't go wrong with statistics if you like it...I would say just minor in something you like because I always found I did better in classes I enjoyed and GPA is more important than what you're studying tbh. You also could minor in something completely unrelated and that might even be a good talking point in interviews

Your minor doesn’t matter at all, especially as a business major because they already know you’re interested in. If you like stats, minor in stats. If you’re interested in a totally non finance/business minor, I’d go with that as it gives you something to talk about. Personally more interested to hear you talk about your favorite ww2 battle or your favorite artist/painting than your favorite programming language or math proof.
