What's the deal with office parties?

Am I supposed to sit with the people in my group/office, would it it be a dick move to sit with others i never met? Do I have to go shake every person's hand because I work with them on a frequent basis?

Yeah, its autistic AF, but IDK what the norm with handshakes is. At family parties I have to go around and shake everyone's hand or its considered rude. At normal parties I say hi and sometimes shake hands as I meet people. At networking events I shake other people's hands when I meet the but I never shake my friends' hands unless I haven't seen them for a long time. I shake my European acquaintances' hands the most because that's what they do.

I could be over thinking it...

Well... the standard procedure for handshakes is as follows.

If you’re in a professional environment (office party counts), shake the hands of people you’ve never met when you introduce yourselves to each other. Don’t just go around shaking everyone’s hand in sight, that’s some sped shit. If you shake hands with your team in the morning as you see them, then it’s maybe okay to go shake their hands when you walk in. The reason I say maybe is because; I really hope you don’t walk into the office every morning and shake people’s hands as you say good morning to your team. That’d be exhausting af to deal with, though probably pretty funny from their standpoint. If they don’t shake your hand very often, say what’s up to the analysts and friendly associates, and maybe save the handshakes for your senior colleagues unless you see someone else doing it. Some things are culture-specific but that’s just normalcy for ya

I’ll throw you an SB to cheer you up.
