Which boutique for summer internship?

Sandler O'Neill + Partners in NYC, Capstone Partners in Boston (only part-time ~20 hrs/week), or Revolution Partners in Boston?

Clearly, any type of IB experience is great, especially in this market. My ultimate goal, though, is to gain experience and be able to put banking on my resume to better position myself for FT recruiting in the fall. My initial thought is that, although Sandler is a FIG, it is in NYC and would provide a better opportunity to network for FT positions.

What are everyone's thoughts? Anyone go through something similar in the past that could offer any advice?

I can only speak to Sandler O'Neill as I'm not as familiar with the other banks. Since this is for a SA position, I would go with them for three reasons:

1.) They're a well-respected boutique in the FIG space and a name on your resume matters at this point. I couldn't even get a FT first round interview (albiet I'm at a non-target but had an alum there and I was speaking with the recruiter).

2.) You're going to be busy. There's going to be a lot of deal-flow in FIG, relative to other industry groups. You'll be able to translate this experience on your resume and in interviews. Ultimately, that'll count at the end of the day come next fall.

3.) As you mentioned above, you'll be in NYC and it will give you a chance to network with other banks (BB, Other Boutiques, & MM Shops). Being given that opportunity will give you an advantage for FT recruiting in the fall if you want to switch banks.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
