Will my junior summer BB offer be rescinded because of a academic misconduct/cheating mark?

During the recent semester when classes were online, I was accused of cheating on a problem set because some of my answers looked similar to a friend of mines. We had worked together on a few problems (a third of the problems in terms of points), but my "friend" blamed me when the professor confronted him about it. Didn't help that the professor already didn't like me. The whole thing was a kangaroo court. Well, all this doesn't really matter now.

It went through the academic misconduct committee hearing process. The outcome was that I would fail the class, and that it would say on my transcript I failed the class because of academic misconduct. I can't really do anything about this, though I am planning to retake the class in the coming semester and - hopefully - do very well in the class.

I recently got an offer for a GS/MS/JPM/BAML IB summer analyst position for my junior summer. Looking around WSO it seems like they do ask for your transcripts during the onboarding. I have a good CV all around, save this obviously. I'm from a target, solid GPA, good EC's. I would still meet the GPA thresholds the offer(s) are contingent on.

Would this be a big enough red flag to rescind my offer, when they see it during onboarding? If it definitely is, and I am very likely to have my offer rescinded, I might as well tell them now. At least then I can look to work somewhere less competitive + prestigious. And if they don't rescind, I have peace of mind. What do you all think?

Looking around WSO there seem to be somewhat similar threads + questions, but they sort of dissolved into shit or are slightly different situations. Hopefully this is more productive.

I would normally say that HR just needs the transcript to check the box for GPA, but on the off chance they do notice that is definitely not a good look, and they might raise this higher because grades are one thing, but ethics are a whole other set of issues. These firms take integrity very seriously, and cheating- more significantly getting caught while cheating may raise a red flag. I would maybe inform them closer to the process and possibly explain yourself- better than just trying to sneak it past them (they aren't stupid as you know).

Good luck man.

That makes sense. What about attaching some sort of letter, or acknowledging it and offering to talk about it over the phone, when I send them my transcript? So I wouldn't seem like I'm trying to "sneak it past them".

Downside is, if they still rescind, I won't really have time to get another comparable internship.

but HR isn't the one looking at transcript right, it's outsourced to a background check company?

He'd purported I had "sent answers" to a bunch of people because there were others with similar answers to ours. I'd only worked with him though. Who knows, it was probably my he who shared it with others. Didn't help that the professor already didn't like me. The whole thing was a kangaroo court, they assumed I did everything I was accused of and worse. Well, all this doesn't really matter now.

First paragraph gives info that may be used to identify you, and doesnt help answer your question. Just lookin out

for SA or FT, and how did they verify gpa then or that someone even goes to the school they listed on their resume? thought transcript was a main part of the background check

Had a similar issue where I was accused of cheating on an online lab because of my name and adress was exactly the same as someone who took the class a year before (I have a common name and I was living in a dorm). I did not realize that I had failed a class until grades had been posted. I went from having a 95 in the class to a fat F and a little asterisk on my transcript stating I had failed due to misconduct and ethics. It was never brought up in interviews/onboarding.

After meeting with countless deans, conduct boards, etc I got my A and now everything is fine.

because you never had to submit a transcript or in spite of submitting a transcript? wouldn't the GPA drop signal something to HR to look closer at the transcript

BB intern here. they don’t ask for ur transcript. they didn’t for me and I will be interning for one of the banks above. I wouldn’t disclose if I were u. if it comes up be prepared to explain it. also is this the Princeton scandal with the TA?lol
