Wreck My CV, Applying for London Spring Week
Hi WSO Community
I am an international student and I will be applying for Spring Weeks this October and I am looking for constructive criticism. For the people who live outside EMEA, Spring week is actually a day insight or variable according to banks for eg. GS Insight week is of 2 weeks duration while some banks does a a day insight or two
This is my 3rd Copy and I wanna know how good it is and I really want to remove the weaker bullet around.
I will be adding a few more ( Like Volunteering which i will be doing next month and maybe as a junior analyst at the Student Run Investment Fund which they will be recruiting by October) before sending off but I want to know what's the view of experienced people in here about my CV
I'd remove the high school stuff if I were you.
The spring week is for first year undergraduate and when i will be applying, I would have just entered the uni as the university starts by the end of September and in this case High School Stats are pretty important
nobody gives a shit about HS.
Too much white space
Yeah I noticed that. But I have kept the font in this size because if I get into my university investment fund I could fit in and still make everything in a page. Also I will be doing some volunteering next month so I could fill that in as well
Do you think a step up in font size work? Maybe one or two?
Gained insight into the industry and learned relevant skills. What relevant skill? Be specific.
Thank you for your suggestion! I will look into it and make it more specific to the point
Terrible formatting: - white space not consistent in your CV - forgot a space after the coma between C and C++ - ( 82% total) should be (82% total) - etc etc
Overall the CV looks empty and screams that you have no attention to detail
Sorry about formatting. I have left some space in between the university details and the HS because I have send my draft to university career service as well and I have asked them whether I should include anything like Relevant Modules in under the heading of university.
The other formatting difference I made in the work experience is to insert anything quick because I may insert something in there but I should have formatted it before posting here.
I will look into those minor changes. Thank you for your valuable suggestion.
The spring weeks are just for students who graduate in 2020. Therefore, I would work on your work experience and apply next year.
If you graduate in 2021 you will get auto-dinged.
Thanks for your concern. I have had a talk with my university career counsellor and he told me that as per his experience, he haven't seen any issues as its a course with a placement year which can be converted any time. So while applying I would just mention that I will finish my course by 2020
I'd change the dates for the ER gig to 'Summer 2017' and change Skills to Languages and find some other skills to put down.
Other than that, I agree with the above, too much white space and the formatting needs sorting out.
I went through a bit of search on WSO after I posted this and I found a lot of CVs here with the dates as summer 20xx.
I have formatted accordingly after @LBOMASTER has mentioned it
Thank you for your reply!
No worries, it'll look a lot cleaner like that.
