WSO Demographics... SURPRISE!

Yesterday I did a poll of ethnicity of WSO users . 177 people voted, here are the results so far (to be clear, the two numbers are number of voters, versus overall percentage):

https://www.surveybuilder.com/report/4f5170fca36a…

Group # of Voteres Percentage
South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, etc...) 46 (26%)
White (European heritage) 39 (22%)
East/Southeast Asian (Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, etc..) 25 (14%)
Black 17 (10%)
Native American 17 (10%)
Middle Eastern/North African (Arab, Iranian, Morrocan, etc...) 15 (8%)
Hispanic/Latino (of any race) 7 (4%)
Pacific Islander 6 (3%)
Mixed/Other 5 (3%)
Total 177 (100%)

Poll can still be taken at: http://www.surveybuilder.com/s/IKa6w9ceYAA
(thanks again sxh6321)

Wow, I must admit I'm a little shocked. Keep in mind that this is not a scientific poll by any means, and the data should be taken with a grain of salt... or garam masala, whichever you prefer.

not surprised? i honestly expected whites to be the majority... and did NOT expect South Asians to be the largest group. the other surprise was the relatively large "Native American" presence... about 10%. either quite a few people thought i meant "born in America" OR (more likely) there's a large group of us willing to scour our family trees to improve chances of getting into HBS.

Money Never Sleeps? More like Money Never SUCKS amirite?!?!?!?

abacab:
White users are more vocal (e.g if you look at Top User type stats), giving that perception that there are more white users. When you add it all up, Asia as continent is like 48%

that... and i just assume ppl are white unless they explicitly say so.

Money Never Sleeps? More like Money Never SUCKS amirite?!?!?!?
