Do most RE firms have compliance departments?

I'm asking because I used to work at a LifeCo that required us to preclear every single trade we made. It was massively annoying to do so because it was a whole process to do it. I now work in a development office that doesn't have a compliance department, so I'm able to freesling securities to my heart's desire.

Whenever I start the job search again, I don't want to end up at another company that has a compliance department. Do y'all know if many RE firms have compliance departments? What about REPE's or CBRE/JLL?

I work at a firm that is very large but private, and is not one of the types mentioned above. We do have compliance but their job is to clear any gifts/business development expenditures and not our actual business doings.

Do you mean personal trades as well, or just trades on behalf of the firm?

Good friend of mine is BB trader and he’s not allowed to personally trade anything (even ETFs are problematic for him), but haven’t experienced that level of oversight in real estate.
