Fired from internship - what to do...

Looking for advice on what to do from here.

For the past 6 months I have been interning at a private equity shop and was recently let go because no deal flow and no use for me. I am currently a sophomore in the midst of summer analyst 2024 recruiting. I was planning on staying at this internship for the duration of the summer but now have no idea what to do.

Given it's so late, is it possible to find another internship for the summer? Is cold emailing small shops in search of an internship actually a good use of my time? What other routes are recommended?

Not the end of the world as a sophomore. Junior summer recruiting is kicking off right now, and the majority of kids are applying without their sophomore summer internship listed on their resume / secured. Make sure you are participating in those recruiting processes - junior summer is what matters. At worst, you have a free summer to do what you like.
