Thoughts on EY Parthenon Corporate Finance?

I know it's not purely consulting, more towards financial consulting/finance. I am going to be interning for corp fin/vals and am wondering if anyone has had experience with the team and how "consulting" the work feels.

I'm also curious if anyone has moved from the non management/strategy side and recruited full time for consulting. I am also interested in potentially trying to do strategy at EYP but the transition would probably be hard.

I’m confused by your question - EYP is literally a consulting shop, so unclear what you mean by something kind of like consulting? Also worth noting that “strategy” at EYP = consulting = corp finance function of the group. Corporate finance is like deal advisory for EYP, which is kind of why your note doesn’t make sense.

This is not correct -- the corporate finance team at each of the big 4 is actually a small investment bank.

Corporate Finance is LMM IB. You’ll be doing the same thing as small banks, i.e. working on lots of deals that are between 20m to 200m. You probably will have a better WLB than working at a bank but your pay will be significantly less.

You’re an advisor so its not consulting like the strategy arm of the firm.

An internship in this field will not close any doors for you. It can be a solid springboard if you position it correctly.
