going out clothes
I know that there have been a myriad of posts regarding where to shop when constructing a wadrobe for work. I was wondering, where do bankers like to shop for clothes they wear when going to a bar/club?

I'm pretty sure bankers only wear gem-encrusted Ed Hardy shirts and fist pump the night away at Mansion.

I thought Ed Hardy was never in the Banker circle, seeing as its only 80 - 150 a shirt. I figured gem-encrusted Great Wall of China were more the high roller style. In which case, Scoop in SoHo is the location for a nice $600 shirt.
Reality of going out is, you wear what you like to wear, there is no "Banker's night out clothes", minus the night out right after work, i.e. work attire with or without a tie. I've seen people wear jeans and dress shirts, jeans and t-shirt, blazers, no blazer, polo. I don't think it's a huge deal to be honest, but dress shoes are usually a must to get in 99% of decent places.

You've got to be kidding me. You seriously are going to ask this question? Are you fucking kidding me? This is pathetic. This question makes me think you enjoy teabagging dudes and felt like sharing that with the world when you signed up for this forum.
Wear what you want to wear when you aren't at work, not what "Bankers" are supposed to wear. There isn't some fuckin' dress code outside of the office. Got damn.
hahah. Seriously.

theking, hilarious and spot on as always.
wear what you want but keep in mind if you go to a club (marquee duvet home etc) you should at least be in a button down and/or blazer with decent jeans and decent shoes, you can also get away w a good tshirt if you have good jeans and shoes on
otherwise just wear whatever you're comfortable in..oh and no sandals lots of bars wont let you in
contrary to popular belief,
contrary to popular belief, investment banking is a job, not the equivalent of a lobotomy...why you wouldn't retain whatever personal style, or lackthereof, that you had previous to becoming a "banker" (drum roll please) is beyond me. furthermore - bankers aren't a homogenous cult - believe it or not, there isn't some equivalent of the preppy handbook out there for bankers detailing exactly which hue your socks must be, or of what material acceptable watch bands are made of. grow a set and figure this shit out for yourself.
If you have to ask this your
If you have to ask this your fellow SAs may not invite you out...

i know -- it's incredible that these kinds of people actually exist! on another note, i hear that it's almost become "fashionable" for some of the guys to change their last name to sound like something more "italian." how crazy is that?
btw GameTheory, that njguido.com site is hilarious. a little too much guido for my liking, but makes for a good laugh. i'm a bit confused by all the guido women "mugging" for the camera, though -- is that supposed to be attractive or something? should we be impressed?

Where exactly did you hear men are changing their names to sound more Italian? That sounds beyond ridiculous.
Well actually.. the blowout haircut is kind of in line with that level of ridiculousness... so maybe you aren't kidding.

Ok, putting aside the OP's stupid "where do bankers shop" mentality, how about some real advice on good clothes for going out to high-end clubs and bars.
I come from a city/go to bars where flip flops are more common than real shoes and a button down shirt is more likely to get you thrown out then let in, so I really am clueless on this. "going out clothes" are basically the only part of my wardrobe that I really think I need to fill in when I move to NYC this fall.
Specifically, any recommendations for:
Good "dress" shoes for going out? (I'm guessing not the cap-toe or wing-tip Allen Edmonds, etc. that you wear to work)
Nice jeans?
Casual button down shirts?
Casual blazers?
AltESV: Loafers, (Tod's are
AltESV:
Loafers, (Tod's are my favorite but if you're going to a dance club they might get stepped on hardcore)
Jeans, self-explanatory. 7s, Citizen's, R&R, nobody cares who makes your jeans, just make sure they fit well. Get the bottoms tailored so you don't like like a fool.
Button down shirts, if you're going to wear a blazer over them I would suggest tucking them in. Then, just get shirts where you normally do, except be less conservative with colors and patterns (ie no straight blue or white shirts). You can also go the (less, imo) cool untucked, no blazer route, but then you're going to be limited to shorter cut, lower quality (think jcrew or brep) shirts.
Casual Blazers, either get a distressed blazer if that's your style or a nice one with less conservative colors/patterns (same concept as the button down shirts). My favorite is actually the jacket portion of one of my "flashy" i-dont-wear-this-to-work suits; navy with bright blue track pin-stripes. I wear this with a yellow or lavender shirt, tucked in, dark jeans and brown or black loafers, depending on the shirt, just to give you an idea.
All in all, it depends on your personal style / where you're going.
