I thought this was going to be IB offices. I haven't been to all of them in NYC, but from the one's I have seen, CS at 23rd and Madison was very nice.

numithe KKR NY office is pretty amazing
Hands down KKR. Had an opportunity to interview at their Tokyo offices. Full mahogany tables/doors and marble floors. Views overlooking the Imperial Palace.

dew2229havent tried office 2013 yet! im on 2010 at work, but i do miss excel on ms office 2003...

oh, and the windows at one bryant park have a tendency of falling out. i hear 200 west is nice

lol... OP's title is a bit ambiguous.

If you need Office 2013, my school just gave us the free download.

1BP is a bag of hype.

Those environmentally urinals are bullshit, and god forbid a tissue falls in them and then a floor is blocked off for 2 hours.

And fuck the rule (at least on my floor) where the free coffee is cutoff in the late afternoon so your left with tea only.

I know my buddy at Goldman and DB hang out a lot on Stone Street, but financial district is basically dead past 6pm. It is nice if you want to be away from the congestion of the city, so its a nice getaway from everything. I assume BofA's new office would be a good location since it's across the street from Bryant Park.

My favorite office is most likely MS despite the congestion in time square but in the end what do you expect, its NYC.

Yeah, stone street is an awesome place to take a few minutes off, especially if you can get out once or twice a week for lunch during the summer. I'd agree that most banks generally have good to great locations. The top boutiques in particular tend to ball out on their offices, and have pretty amazing locations (ie, PWP in the GM bldg).

Aren't there issues with the construction quality on BoA's new offices?

Yea, they can't keep their windows in. If you look up they are missing a shit ton of windows (not sure if its repaired yet) but I believe they got sued by people or were fined when some windows fell onto the streets during construction.

The new goldman office at world trade is going to be baller. And new. I really like my office, but don't want you monkeys knowing where I work. But it's exquisite

New Goldman building is absurd! Was very fortunate to earn a GS HK interview there and even the folks from HK were walking around in awe. However, as far as I know, not much to do around there... but take that with a grain of salt as I am a newbie as far as that area goes. Have to say though, I liked the area behind 85B (stone st?)

MS... who wants to constantly plow into tourists looking straight up?? I feel like i'm slot car racing when i'm in TSq!

I concur with harvardgrad11... CS office is rather sad.

MS... never saw the inside because they interviewed us in the middle of their cafeteria in make shift cubicles, haha!

JPM (old bear office) is nice and conveniently located in midtown.

BX office was my favorite because it has that 'old world' look with dark wood, persian rugs, and antique looking china (speaking only about the three meeting rooms I sat in).

CS's building in Manhattan is really nice. They don't own it, and I don't even think it is their US HQs (maybe?) but I really liked the lay out.

UBS Stamford HQ's is pretty cool if you're okay with Stamford. Of all the numerous trading floors I've been on this one was the coolest. LIve streaming feed to CNN 24/7.....pretty ba

The CS building is indeed very cool... they have two at the same location I believe. MS is cool too thought, great location.

I personally still like Barclay's (ex Lehman)

CS building is the old MetLife Building on Mad Ave, pretty sweet, especially at night when the clock tower is lit up.

Jack: They’re all former investment bankers who were laid off from that economic crisis that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have zero real world skills, but God they work hard. -30 Rock

true. Lehman Brothers new york was nice. Citigroup was mediocore in my opinion. IB offices can't compare with some of the PE ones i've seen here in Toronto and in NY.

a friend interviewed with Blackstone, said their offices were nice. so are KKR's apparently.

i personally liked bain's new york office a lot. didn't care for any of the banks' offices. they all seemed similar.

ML London is pretty bad-ass. Had interviews in the conference area - which is also presumably where they take people to fire them. Go figure.

My vote for best bank office goes to Lazard (top ~10 floors of the GE building) and best PE office goes to KKR (relatively high up the Solow building). I'm rather partial to a good view, plus these two sets of offices are done up very nicely as others have mentioned earlier.

Don't know many consulting or HF offices.

Any votes for best offices in other cities?

Some of the European consulting offices in "old" Europe are sick. I personally like Google NYC, it's housed in this big warehouse looking building on 9th ave and it's vintage google (big bouncy balls everywhere, glass walls, open spaces). If you are looking for opulence, wasn't too impressed with a few of the MM PE places I saw but I am guessing large cap PE probably has it covered. Some of the large hedge funds are just over the top- one fund that shall remain nameless basically has model-hot women as admins but very mediocre offices. But there are quite a few, especially the ones in CT, that are unbelievable.

But yeah, investment banks should not even enter the discussion... any large buyside firm will blow any bulge bracket out of the water in that sense.

Exactly. Investment banking groups, especially if part of a public company, are not supposed to be extravagant. Bankers' fees are high enough as it is; you don't want clients coming in and wondering if the million dollar artwork on the wall is an indication that these guys are getting paid too much. The one exception I've heard about is Allen & Co, which has a very classy office on 5th. I think they have butlers that come by at the touch of a button.

Now, any buyside firm is more likely to have an incentive to splurge on office niceties. When it's fundraising time, and a big investor walks in wondering if these guys can make him richer, it might help to show signs of wealth. See Sequoia Capital for example. I think they're the one with the shark tank in the lobby or whatever it is.

GameTheoryYeah, I interviewed at Allen & Co and can confirm the butler thing. I also worked with them while they were co-manager on an IPO. Their offices are nice in the "old money" sense, nice artwork, etc.

I'd still prefer our offices over theirs, though. Ours aren't nearly as opulent as KKR financial's above.

Can you describe what is "opulent" about KKR's office, I am curious I have never seen it.

jjc1122the bloomberg office is part of one beacon court, a mixed-use building on east 58th, between lexington and third. you should see their condos. they're absolutely SICK!
A vid I found of one of the apartments.
The interior design isn't exactly to my liking, but those are some nice views.

the link is for KKR Financial's offices in SF (looks pretty sweet from the pictures listed)

i think all PE shops have such nice offices that, after a while, they all start to feel the same

though KKR menlo park has a very old-money/country club feel to it (not a high rise since it is MP) -- wood is all mahogany or something, reception area has a library and a black/white tv playing clips from old classics... they also have waitstaff on site. one of my interviewers clicked a button on the table in our interview room and some lady showed up asking me if i wanted tea/coffee/cookies/food/etc... pretty ridiculous

TPG's SF offices remind me a lot of the KKR financial pics, but they don't feel too different from Bain Cap Boston (might be moving to the Hancock Tower from 101 Huntington) and THLee

KKR London has a chef on duty at all hours. So if it's 4am and you want a Chateaubriand at your desk...

that's pretty damn opulent, even for KKR

If that chef is some really creative, talented guy, don't you think the constant requests for grilled cheese sandwiches would begin to grate after a while?

KKR's office in New York (Solow Building) is sick. Amazing views of Central Park. Private kitchen with amazing amenities. African tribal masks and other weird art.

I agree. Went there for an internship interview a while back and snapped a photo of their view overlooking the park as I was waiting in the reception area: http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/4729/0505091351.jpg

It's the nicest office I've seen, and I've been to a bunch of hedge fund offices this summer. Paulson's office comes in a very close 2nd. Owl Creek Asset Management is also very nice.
