Interview
Very long process. First round was a simple call with the recruiter, followed by a more detailed call with the head of distressed finance. Had four more interviews after that with different members of the Aegon leveraged finance team. People seemed nice, but took a very long time to communicate. Time between interviews was very long, and it was an incredibly frustrating process overall.
Interview Questions
Asked me about different types of loans and how they are affected by current events

Generally relaxed. Company spoke in different processes one at a time. Did an initial screening, follow-up technical round looking at analysis and pricing, then followed with general strategy, e.g. how would you do this or value this ETF or Bond or Stock etc. Continued throughout a few rounds until a group stage where it was more a behavioral fit.
Interview Questions
Most difficult were random pricing questions

Interview
Was connected with hiring managers by a friend of the Regional VP. He said they typically recruit interns with some type of relationship with the higher-ups. The phone interview consisted of the basic explain your resume, some scenario tests based on client interactions, and some basic fit test questions.
Interview Questions
Describe a time from your previous job where you had to go above and beyond to formulate a solution. Not difficult per se but based on how the interview was operating it was a very out of the blue question. Another question that was unexpected was explaining a scenario that I "would possibly encounter on the job" about how I would solve a large conflict with a FA, if they were unhappy with their fund performance or another sales related problem they have come across. In depth answers were encouraged and often they asked for more after the initial answer.

Interview
I applied online via OCR and met with the recruiters at my school's career fair. Set up an on-campus interview with a director level employee who moved me to a "super day" at headquarters in Cedar Rapids. Two groups of about ten for the morning and afternoon with a lunch between and they select approximately eight to ten for the realty positions. Have one-on-one or two-on-one interviews with the five different departments.
Interview Questions
One market sizing question: how many gas stations are there in the US? Overall not very technical, more on how you fit for each group.

Interview
I applied in late August for the Spring internship. I was contacted via e-mail to interview in person on campus. After the 1-on-1 half hour interview, I waited for a few days to hear back from HR via phone. I was then invited to the final interview a week later, but had to complete an Excel proficiency test before. The final interview consisted of a couple different interview with four different analysts of varying levels. The questions were both behavioral and technical and they really wanted to see how interested you were in the markets. They will also take you around the trading desks and the analyst area to show you how the office looks. The people are very Iowan - friendly and intelligent.
Interview Questions
"Explain how bonds and interest rates move together?"
"What has happened in the market in the last year?"
"How would you invest a portfolio for a 60 year old person planning on retiring?"

Interview
I applied online and received phone interview invitation fairly quickly. The phone screening is quite basic: 1. Tell me about yourself. 2. Excel skills. 3. Market, especially fixed income market knowledge.

The on site interview lasted the entire morning. Upon arrival, the HR lady showed me around the building, including the gym, the dining area and others. Then it's followed by a group interview. The entire analyst team was in the interview. They have prepared question lists and evaluation/grading/note sheets. They each asked one question and rotate. They were quite friendly during the process. After the analysts' round, I talked to the two portfolio managers separately, each lasting about one hour. The PMs doesn't ask many questions. Rather, they were talking most of the time. One of the PMs is sharing his investment philosophy most of the time.

I heard back from the team in about a week and accepted the offer immediately.
Interview Questions
How familiar are you with Excel? What are some of the advanced functions you have used.

I told them I'm quite good at excel and gave an example of vlookup.
There are also some FI related questions, such as what is duration, what's the lowest investment grade rating.
