Case study, relatively was the hardest but fairly easy compared to interviews at other firms. Having some covenant knowledge and background is helpful.

Interview
Submitted an application online with no referral and a recruiter reached out ~2 weeks later to coordinate an interview within the next week. Interview was one-on-one, mostly behaviors (eg why Infrastructure) and one "technical". The interviewer was a bit disengaged but it went normally. They then ghosted me and I assumed I had been rejected, before reaching out for a second round a month later.
Interview Questions

Background Check
Interview
I had 3 rounds. One was just an interview with a sales associate in the Wealth Management Solutions team. The interview was very casual, no resume-specific questions or technical questions. It was more of a personality/fit/behavioral interview focused on why Ares and why Wealth Management. The other 2 rounds were both 1 on 1 interviews with VPs of different divisions. The interviews were still not technical, but they did ask a lot of questions about my resume and past internships. It still was not overtly formal though, and flowed more like a conversation. All three interview rounds really asked dug deep into why wealth management specifically, and also how I would fit into the company. I think culture is a big thing they look at as it was constantly stressed.
Interview Questions
The interview questions were fairly standard, but they did dig deep into any answer I would say, and ask for a lot of additional details/follow-up questions. Some interview questions they asked were walk me through your resume, time I worked under pressure, time I failed, why ares + wealth management, strengths and weaknesses. One question they asked which was important was why they should choose me, and what sets me apart from other applicants. Most of it was conversation based though.

Interview
All of the interviews are online over zoom. Each is thirty minutes. Both the technicals and behaviorals were fairly similar. Neither spent more time on technicals or behaviorals. The team focuses more on intuition and behaviorals. Don't expect brain teasers or any questions involving difficult math. The final round is branded as a "case study," which is not true. It's similar to the first two rounds, but with more senior staff (VP/MD)

1st Round - Behaviorals: One Associate/Sr. Analyst interviewer
2nd Round - Technicals: One Associate/Sr. Analyst interviewer
3rd Round/Superday - Case Study: Two Senior interviewers
Interview Questions
There was no question that caught me off guard. If you understand the current market and real estate fundamentals, you will be able to answer their questions. This is a question I recall being asked.

"If you're savings account magically increased by $100M and all of those funds had to be invested in real estate, where would you invest?"
