All of the interviews are online over zoom. Each is thirty minutes. Both the technicals and behaviorals were fairly similar. Neither spent more time on technicals or behaviorals. The team focuses more on intuition and behaviorals. Don't expect brain teasers or any questions involving difficult math. The final round is branded as a "case study," which is not true. It's similar to the first two rounds, but with more senior staff (VP/MD)

1st Round - Behaviorals: One Associate/Sr. Analyst interviewer
2nd Round - Technicals: One Associate/Sr. Analyst interviewer
3rd Round/Superday - Case Study: Two Senior interviewers
Interview Questions
There was no question that caught me off guard. If you understand the current market and real estate fundamentals, you will be able to answer their questions. This is a question I recall being asked.

"If you're savings account magically increased by $100M and all of those funds had to be invested in real estate, where would you invest?"

Interview was a 3 stage process, starting with speaking to a member of HR and a member of the legal team, this 1st interview was very much competency based, simple questions such as why Ares, show me when you have showed leadership, balanced responsibilities etc, then from there after advancing I had an interview with a member of the real estate equity team and the investor relations team. This second interview was much more techinical, was asked which stocks I would invest in, if i had $100m, further was asked how to value a company, then asked to walk them through a DCF, then other basic competency questions.

Final interview stage I got to was once again with two people, one from real estate equity and one from investor relations, here I was asked why specifically real estate, why buy-side rather than sell side and other questions of this nature. Overall would rate the interview process as a good one, I definitely should have and could have prepared more but overall was a good experience interview wise.
Interview Questions
The brain teaser ( I was asked how to find the weight of the heaviest stone from eight stones whilst being able to only use the weighing scale twice)

First round consisted of two interviews: one behavioral and one technical. Technical interview was pretty simple (what is cap rate, equity multiple vs cash multiple, calculate cash multiple based on a situation they give you, etc). Ghosted after the first rounds though even though I aced it; therefore, I think its more of a personality fit test.
Interview Questions
You just bought a property for $100MM with at a 6 cap rate with a 60% LTV and a 4% fixed interest rate. What is your cash on cash multiple?

Interview
Applied online through a linkedin posting. HR reached out the next day and we scheduled a call that lasted 15 minutes where they asked Why Ares, Why moving jobs. They sent my resume to the team and I was selected for an LBO model test. The LBO model test was fairly straightforward and lasted 2 hours. After the model test I was invited to have 2 30 minutes interviews with VPs on the team. The two interviews were one technical (straightforward) and one fit and walking through the deals on my resume.

Interview
I applied online in early February to the real estate equity and debt teams at Ares for LA, Denver, NYC, and Atlanta. I did not do any networking at the firm, but my resume was pulled and I was offered a first round interview. My first round interview was on Zoom and given by a real estate equity analyst and an equity associate both from the Atlanta office. It included a few behaviorals but was primarily techincal. Only included standard real estate technicals that I found online. Just by studying from online resources, I strongly over-prepared for the interview. The next week, I got an email for a Superday, which I scheduled for the next week. The first Superday interview had some behaviorals, but was primarily technical in nature. Most of the technical questions were identical to ones I had answered in my first round. My second interview was purely behvioral.
