Interview
Started with phone interview with recruiting company - basic questions on my background and knowledge about CME.

Followed by one-day at the office, with 3 different interviews with HR, Team Head and team member, Senior managers and a lunch with two in the team.

Generally very basic questions on my knowledge about the company and on me as a person. They were definitely looking for a personality fit, rather than skills. It was made clear early on that I would learn on the job.

Most important thing during the whole process was to come across as a nice person.

I had an initial phone call screen with a recruiter who passed along my resume to the hiring manager. I had my first round interview with the hiring manager via zoom which consisted of behavioural questions as well technical questions where I had to highlight my previous experience and how they tied into the role. Techinical questions were primarily about FX knowledge as well as some probability brain teasers. This was the hardest stage because my next conversations were with the executive and managing directors separately. These stages were mostly a cultural fit assessment
Interview Questions
I was asked about daily FX volumes in the BIS survey. The fx global code and questions regarding the movement towards 0 hold times in FX

I met the hiring manager at the career fair in the spring semester, which is quite late for a summer internship. Heard back from the hiring manager and had a phone interview. All behavioral questions. Then the final round is a skype interview with ED of that department and the hiring manager. Two consulting case to check your thought process and a bunch of fit questions.
Interview Questions
What would you do if I give you an elephant that you're not allowed to sell it or give it to anyone else?
Suppose a specific business line in CME is declining, what's your strategy to promote this business?

There was really not that many hard questions. Really awesome and cool interviewers.

I got an email about the position and they requested a phone interview. After that it took a couple weeks until I was given an interview. After that I got a response about 2-3 weeks later.
Interview Questions
How many cookies did the girl scout that's outside the building sell today?
So upon entering the building there were some girl scouts inside. During the interview the interviewer asked how many girl scout cookies do I think that they sold. He emphasized that the answer isn't important, but the way you get to your answer.
Can you draw an option call?
This wasn't too difficult, but I messed up because I drew it like the P/L theoretical from the tasyworks platform. He wanted straight lines not curved ones.

Re feral followed by phone screen and coding assessment. After the coding assessment, I was declined and did not get the job.
Interview Questions
Take home coding test that involved parsing large amounts of data (3GB) using a spark language of your choice. Before parsing the data, they also instructed you to spin up your own AWS EMR infrastructure that had spark. In addition to the EMR infrastructure, you had to use a pem key to create the instance and you had to setup the credentials necessary to login to the infrastructure and perform calculations. All spark code had to be written and executed on the EMR. Although the test was "take home" you were instructed to finish in 2 days.

Interview
First there was a phone call - all fit questions.
One on one with an analyst in person - a little more technical then the phone but not bad. Asked questions about market derivatives, counter party risk(margin), and computer skills.
Final round was two senior managers in person - more technical; talked more in depth about my knowledge of trading strategies.
Interview Questions
None - It was pretty straight forward. They did ask some brain teasers though which i will add. If you are going into the derivatives sector and don't know what a derivative is then you probably should research it on your own time.

A.) 10 foot rope ladder hangs over the side of a boat with the bottom rung on the surface of the water. The rungs are one foot apart, and the tide goes up at the rate of 6 inches per hour. How long will it be until three rungs are covered?

Another question I don't hear too often:

B.)How did you prep for this interview?

C.) What is your favorite product on our slate and why?

I had an interview with each member of the team, 1 to 1, around 45 min with each one. They asked brain teasers and finance related questions (pricing options, delta). Throw an egg from building, when does it survive
Interview Questions
How would you price a contract of CME? Delta of a stock? Explain VaR for your grandma. If you throw an egg from a building and there is a certain point where it does not break, which is the minimum number of throws that you need to find that breakpoint. Why do I want the job without having a good idea of what they were doing because the job post did not have enough information. Interview
I applied via my school's career center. I had networked pretty well with the previous two years of analysts that went to my school. The process consisted of two sets of interviews, one on campus and the other at the Chicago office. The first round interview with HR was a breeze if you did any research on what CME does and any major industry trends. The next round they bring you in for about 6 1-1 interviews. They are entirely fit. Some people are dicks other people couldn't be nicer. The overall questions centered around how much you could see your self running the operations of CME. I would grade the interview as easy because no hard questions were asked, however they will cut to the chase and can judge how interested in their operations you are.
Interview Questions
Talk to me about the products that CME offers and what you are most interested in. -- Know the tried and true products backwards and forwards. Any strange or exotic products can be emphasized, but try not to only focus on them.
Tell me about a time where you had to make an uncomfortable decision in a leadership role. I spoke about a time where I had to kick a member of my team out of the group for not doing any work. Pretty typical fit question.
