1st Round - On campus interview with a current Equity Research Associate of the firm. Was a lighter interview, asked about my investment philosophy, what experiences have led to that philosophy and why me
2nd Round (Final) - Superday at the San Mateo office. Met numerous analysts/PMs. The day consisted of a lunch with the PMs, 3 1-on-1 interviews, 1 2-on-1 interviews, and a final group case discussion. It was about 50% behavioral, 50% technical.

Advice: Prepare heavily on your investment philosophy and know current events along with broader economic implications. Also, keep a stock pitch ready, ideally long.
Interview Questions
One of the interviews involved a discussion regarding current global economic events. I was stress-tested, and virtually every comment I made was under heavy scrutiny.

Interview
First, I was contacted by a member of their HR department, and interviewed a few days later with said person via Microsoft Teams. Next, I advanced to the second and final round, which was a panel interview. It took less than a week for me to receive an answer between rounds 1 and 2 (if I've moved on). The panel interview was simply behavioral questions from two managers of the Valuations department, going through my resume and diving deeper into the role. Overall, the interviewers were quite laid back and liked the fact that I was willing to learn everything about the job before starting. You should review everything there is to know about the company, and dress formally. You should also do research on your interviewers.
Interview Questions
I don't think any of the questions were hard. I've been interviewing for months so everything felt fine. One question was: Walk me through your resume... I can't remember the rest.

Interview
Started with standard phone screen that was mostly behavioral and questions about resume. Moved forward to initial zoom call with an associate- light technicals revolved around companies I had researched within my coverage space and a stock pitch I had prepared for the interview. Moved forward to an Analyst interview which went a little deeper on technicals and knowledge of the sector space- unfortunately dinged out after that round- believe next round would have been with a group of associates + a manager.
Interview Questions
Why did I have a variant view of the multiple I applied to a refiner company relative to street expectations.

I applied through WAM talent in January, got an invitation to video call interview in March, had an in-person interview in February and final interview with head of my team in May.

Video call is with HR, does not go beyond describing your background and motivation.

Second round is with two members of your future team, they test both motivation and technical experience (data sourcing and cleaning, scripting, data analysis and data-baseddecision-making)

Last round is with head of trading, only covers motivation and focuses on your fit for position
Interview Questions
What kind of data have you analysed before, describe granularity, homogeneity, ways you dealt with imperfections?

Interview Questions
Why Franklin Templeton? Explain what an ETF is, explain the difference between actively managed and passively managed mutual funds. Pitch me a stock. Why do you want to work in our office? Have you had any previous experience working on the buy side? Why asset management over other divisions within the financial industry? What do you know about our team and what do you think are ways that we can be more efficient? Can you tell me about an experience where you had to lead a team in academics or extra curriculars?

Interview
The interview consisted only of questions about my resume and behavioral questions. The HR recruiter was very easy to talk to. However, the pay offered ~$43k a year was disappointing. Futures Associates get switched around in different departments and I felt that I wouldn't have enough in-depth experience in the department of my interest. So, I declined the second interview round (which was supposed to be before the HR recruiter and 2 directors).
Interview Questions
Tell me about a project/time where you failed and what did you learn from it? When you do this, remember to give a really good self-reflection on how you learned from that situation and what you will do in the future to avoid that from happening.

Interview
The interview process consisted of a phone interview (initial HR screening), an in person interview (this was possible because I live in the area) and a final round panel interview. The interviews were 100 percent behavioral which was surprising. In the last round of interviews they also have a writing sample you need to complete. The entire process is on a point scale. Each interview consisted of ten questions and you answers were judged on a scale of 1-10 on each question.
Interview Questions
Define integrity and what it means to you. This through me off because it was the first time I have been asked to define a word in an inteview. Directly after they asked me to define it they followed up with the question "Name a time where you have shown integrity" which is prepared for.

All of the other questions were typical behavioral questions. Leadership, teamwork, competitive drive, strength, weakness, etc.

One of the tougher ones was "Name a time you were a leader, the type of leader you were, AND what you could have done better"
