Interview
Applied online in July 2021, heard back about a week and a half later. Interview was a first round (30 mins technical, 30 mins behavioural) and a case study (had to put together a short deck about a potential investment in a REIT) which was presented to several IPs at the firm.
Interview Questions
Technical questions were pretty easy, mostly from the BIWS guides - only thing I'd say is be prepared for lots of follow up questions when they ask you "pitch me a stock" in the first round. I spoke about the company I pitched for a solid 10-15 mins in total. Also they asked a brain teaser - "how much profit do you think the CN tower earned in 2020?" which was a weird one.

The case study was challenging because it was given in the middle of the week - I happened to be quite busy with work at the time, so the only time I could really work on it was at night which cut directly into sleep. Also this was the first time I had analyzed / considered an investment in a REIT. Follow up questions in the case study revolved around my model assumptions, what I thought about the competition in the industry, M&A activity in the space, etc. Just general questions you'd expect if pitching a stock / giving a presentation.

Interview
Interviewed for an Associate role at OMERS Infrastructure through a recruiter. The first round consisted of a call with a Senior Associate on the OMERS team and was mostly fit based. (Tell me about yourself, Walk me through one of the deals on your resume, Why Private Equity?, Why OMERS?, Why Infrastructure?). Second round consisted of a 2-hour 3-statement infrastructure/project finance modeling test (Know how to sculpt debt repayment, and how to sensitize inputs for desired IRR targets). The test was doable, though I was unprepared and was not selected to proceed in the interview process.

Interview
OMERS posted online, so I applied with their portal. Heard back within a week for my interview. 1 30 min Interview with the Analyst and Senior Analyst. Heard back 2 days after with an offer.
Interview Questions
The interview questions were extremely simple. Besides the standard behavioral, wanted to know why I was interested in debt and fixed income. Asked about the economy and where interest rates and gold were headed. Asked me to pitch a stock and asked a serious of follow up questions about it regarding the industry, company dynamics, and how its Sponsor been treating the company. Were extremely interested in the credit metrics of the company and its ability to sustain its historical high growth given the high leverage. Asked what books I read at the end.

Interview
Applied using co-op job board. First there was sort of an “information session” for the other candidates then 2 on 1 interviews the next day.

The interview was primarily behavioural questions, though some lighter technical questions came up as they went into my relevant experiences.
Interview Questions
None were too difficult. Most of the interview was them walking through my resume and behavioural stuff.

The most difficult questions were probably some basic modeling questions, like what assumptions did you use during [x] competition for your DCF model, and how did you select comparable companies in comps analysis. They also asked about a stock I’d buy and what risks I saw with the company.

Otherwise, they just asked standard behavioral questions such as “What do you believe your key strengths are in regards to this position.”
