Interview
The UBS interview process is designed to assess both technical expertise and cultural fit. It usually begins with a conversation about your background, motivation for joining UBS, and understanding of the firm’s core businesses. Interviewers often explore your experiences using competency-based questions (“Tell me about a time when…”) to evaluate teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, and adaptability.

For technical roles, candidates can expect questions related to financial markets, valuation methods, current economic trends, and role-specific knowledge. Interviewers typically appreciate structured answers, clear logic, and an ability to connect previous experiences to the position.

Background Check
Interview
The hiring/interview process was fairly simple. For context, I applied to a UBS owned Boston-based PWM group, with a high AUM level and approx. 10 full time employees. I received a screening interview from an office individual, then my hiring/formal interview was conducted over Zoom with an actual advisor (somewhere in the middle of the food chain). Asked about my academic background, preparation for a role of PWM, gave me an overview of the tasks and then asked where I felt I could fit into those and where I felt I could grow. Pretty relaxed.
