Asia Investment Banking Conference 2017

Initiated by students from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the Asia Investment Banking Conference (AIBC) is the largest student-run conference in Asia focused on corporate advisory and financial markets. Held for the 9th year running, the conference continues to attract more than 300 of the brightest and most talented students from approximately 50 renowned universities across the globe each year. As Asian financial markets evolve and become more dynamic, this year's conference will comprise keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops and interactive learning sessions featuring senior professionals within the industry.

Heightened uncertainty generated by seismic political events and a worldwide divergence of monetary policy has thrust Asia into the spotlight. Banks face new risks but at the same time are backed by an unmatched potential for growth in the region. Amidst the confluence of increased regulation, volatility and uncertain outlook in the Investment Banking industry, new frontiers for growth present themselves, benefitting those who seize these opportunities.

As technology advances, Fintech will continue to encroach on the domain of Investment Banks, serving as a major disruptor to the industry. These changes in turn will influence the way banks of tomorrow operate. Will harnessing a new model of collaboration be the best way forward, and how should in vestment banks position themselves to be at the forefront of these developments?

As a prelude to the conference, the Research Team will publish commentaries under 'Perspectives' on current issues relating to macroeconomic developments and their impact on corporate advisory and beyond. These commentaries serves as a lead up to the conversations that will be held at AIBC 2017. This aims to develop a strong spirit of inquiry during the conference, allowing delegates to make sense of the nuances and complexities within financial markets.
