WSO LA/Santa Monica Meet Up: Fri August 3rd, 6-8pm, The Bungalow

Great choice for a bar. If I were in LA, I'd be there.

I'll be in town for the week of 8/12. I have a superday that week, otherwise I'll be familiarizing myself with the area and trying to network with my target banks. Is this the place to go?

Yeah gotta be honest guys I can't stand the crowd at Bungalow. Especially on a Friday in the summer it's going to be a madhouse. If I wanted to spend $15/drink on chicks who can't hold a conversation while in 90+ degree weather I'd just go to Vegas.

Disappointing venue choice (geographically, reputation, and crowd-wise). Requesting that next round, pick a rooftop bar in DTLA (eg the Standard Hotel, Perch, etc), E.P. L.P. rooftop bar in the west-side, or just an iconic spot in Hollywood/DTLA such as Casey's Irish Pub.

Can't make it unfortunately. Friday is always a rough day to do these things. In terms of venue I think that we should definitely pick a place that would have adequate seating room in the future, The Bungalow can be hit or miss depending on how crowded they are.

In the future I suggest that we do one of the bars in South Bay or one of the Speakeasy's in LB. Think the overall scene is more conducive to a meet and greet/'chillin'. And also relatively central to SM/DTLA/any OC folks.

Will try to make it. Stuck at the office right now and have dinner plans close by in SM -- unfortunately may need to go straight there and skip the Bro-galow.

For those going, hopefully some of "the scene" there will be too focused to check out the new Elephante in Santa Monica. Doubt it though -- usually the new places in LA need a few months before they get totally mobbed by the crowds.

I'm a fan of the DTLA and the South Bay bars, but a weeknight would make it hard for a lot us finance folks who work in Century City/Beverly Hills/general west side.

Perhaps next time we should 1) plan this for a Thursday night and 2) start it a little later. That way we can all have a little more time to wrap up work and also not worry about ruining other Friday night plans.
