Best Groups in JP Morgan PB

I am in the process of deciding between two broad groups within PB, an Integrated Team or Investment Solutions Team, and would appreciate it if anyone can chime in with information about either.

I do not know if I want to stay in PB long term, and would like the flexibility of switching over to the institutional side of the business, or internal development at a F500. Thank you very much.

Some info:

Integrated Teams are comprised of bankers, global investment specialists, wealth advisors, and capital advisors, who work with clients directly throughout the day. Analysts in this group support the members of the integrated team, who are responsible for bringing in new business, servicing current clients with customized financial strategies, explaining strategy and products to clients, and managing relationships. Global investment specialists help clients construct their portfolios, directly trade securities in accounts and monitor the accounts on a daily basis, while meeting their investment goals and guidelines.

Investment Solutions Teams work with global product specialists in our market strategy, alternative investments, fixed income, and equity groups - to name a few. As an Analyst, you will conduct research and analysis, monitor macroeconomic developments, conceptualize how the model portfolios will implement the team's views, assist with product development and respond to inquiries from clients and professionals within Private Banking.

Having a couple of friends with JPM PB, I would say that the Investment Solutions Team will give you a chance to develop a more technical skill set than what you might get within the Integrated Team.

Integrated team is more about client interaction and relationship management. While you will get exposure to both sides of the business (investments vs. client facing) in both groups, it sounds like your long-term goals would point you toward the investment solutions team.

Would you be in NYC regardless of your group choice, or would you be in a regional office?

I agree, I think IST is a better fit given what you want to do. You would only do the other thing if your life goal was "I want to help rich people manage their money and have a lot of client interaction".
