Intern advice

Investment management internship

Hi!

I’m starting an internship at a global asset management firm in a few weeks. I’ve just connected with the other intern working in the same fund as me on Linkedin. He’s on his 3rd degree (an investment management masters degree) and has had 3 investment management internships already.

I’m in my penultimate year of my finance degree and have limited experience in investment management but I worked my ass off to get the internship and have top grades/extra-curriculars. I’m slightly concerned that with his experience, I am going to look SO dumb compared to him. I’ve been doing as much as I can to prepare for the internship, but apart from work ethic, any tips on how to succeed when being compared to a very smart/experienced fellow intern.

I’m also a female from a relatively shit high school, although I am at a top university. Whereas, he attended private schools and speaks 4 languages and with his experience and culturally dexterous background, he is going to be a lot more confident. Looking forward to learning from him but also…scared. But willing to work like I never have before.

Any tips appreciated!
