Maritime/shipping finance - a good start for IB or Infra ?

I am thinking of doing summer at an american alternative AM firm's maritime team ( AUM of 15~20bn USD in total).

Do you think this will be a good start to pursue a career in IBD Energy/Industrials M&A or Infra after this internship? My initial thought was that I will get to do some valuations on real assets and get a good exposure to global trade flow. Also, as far as I understand, it has to do with energy to some extent.

I know this is just an summer internship but I don't want this to harm my opps to get into IB or Infra later.

I have an offer from client coverage team at a bank that does both commerical and corporate banking (say SC, HSBC, DBS) At client coverage team, I am not sure what I will be doing.. :(

I am currently based in the UK

What is valuation like for maritime companies? What are the most common methodologies used?

The role you have is a good start but perhaps consider other sectors too. Not sure if there are many maritime exit opps

Yeah I would like to but this is unfortunately all I have. Have u seen any maritime guys with decent exits? Also I was wondering if my sector matters that much as it's just summer internship.
