2Y IB + 1Y PE --> MBB?

Hey all,

I've been looking to make the transition to MBB after completing 2 years of IB in an M&A group at a MM bank, and 1 year of LMM Healthcare PE

Questions:

1. Would I be an attractive candidate for MBB? The reason I ask is that I heard there's a stigma for candidates coming from years of finance background as being difficult to work with, therefore making it more difficult to get looks.

2. Is there a particular MBB that is generally more receptive to my background than others?

3. What title could I reasonable expect if I landed an offer?

4. Would I be pigeonholed to certain mandates given my background? If so, what would they likely be?

Thank you in advance.

1) Definitely attractive. No to the stigma. no one cares as long as you have a compelling reason on why consulting (as should everyone interviewing)

2) Yours is great!

3) Post-MBA role for sure

4) Depends on which MBB. I'm less sure of McKinsey but for both Bain / BCG you will start as generalist.

Lastly - MBB is doing quite well through COVID so are continuing to do industry hires. I would network and try to grab an interview. Good luck!
