Absolute top tier targets for management consulting
Which target schools have statistically the most recruiting opportunities and representation at MBBs and T2s?

Top Targets - Ivies, Stanford, MIT, Michigan, Berkley, UCLA, Texas, Rice,Vanderbilt, BYU ( don't understand why, but for some reason it places really well). Honestly just look at top 50 USNews rankings most school will place decently well, the higher the better they'll place. I think Texas, and BYU places relatively well compared to their ranks but that maybe because Texas is a top school for south/south west region. The higher the rankings the better the network and the better it'll place. If you want a direct correlation to the best placing schools, look at top business schools in order that's usually the case in placement. Prestige + B school rank
Not sure about T2, but for MBB I wouldn't say Berkeley, UCLA, Texas, Rice, Vanderbilt, and BYU are top- targets. (While they recruit there, the placement #s are not as good, especially on a % basis)
BYU seems well represented at my MBB, and not only in its "traditional" catchment area. Lots of colleagues across the US who left a very good impression of the school's caliber.
(I’m from south west) correct me if I’m wrong which I probably will be but recruiting is generally based on office locations, so in overall terms those don’t place as well because I don’t think you’ll see a lot of people from Rice or Texas in the NYC office but you’ll see a lot more in the Dallas office. So for the south west region their relative targets. Overall targets are your usual -> HYSMP, northwestern, michigan, Berkeley, etc
Not sure what that cnetusa character is talking about above, but Texas, Rice, Vanderbilt, and BYU are target schools for all 3 MBB as well as lots of T2, and they place about as well as others, in comparison to how many apply (not everyone at those schools end up applying). McKinsey does global recruiting system so it's not as office specific:for example, out of my class, we have people going to Cleveland, San Fransisco, Dallas, DC, etc. For Bain and BCG it's a little more office-based: for example, my school recruits to Bain Dallas and Houston (with one guy going to Tokyo), and BCG Dallas (with one guy that went to DC, he's got family there).
If you're really asking, though, "Which school should I be going to in order to get an MBB offer?" then the best bet is to go wherever you think is best for you in terms of fit and personality that has on-campus recruiting. It's takes some time, but you can network and practice and eventually land an offer as long as you put the time into it. It's tough, but it's totally possible. Hell, if someone like me can get an MBB offer, I'm sure that anyone can work into it.

Emory also surprisingly places really well (BCG, Bain, McKinsey, and the Big 4 all recruit on-campus)

I would say HYPSM + Wharton lead everyone else by a fair margin, and within that, Harvard and Wharton lead.

This is ~7 years old, so may have changed somewhat. There are a number of schools that MBB recruits from for regional offices, but if you're interested in top targets, look at the national list: HYPSM + Penn, Duke, Dartmouth, Brown. Probably Cornell/Columbia by now as well.
Bain and BCG actually don't recruit at Cornell. In fact, a lot of Cornell undergrads are struggling to get placed in T2 summer internships.
