Have you ever had someone do their best to give you advice only to find later that the advice wasn't actually useful? harmful even? I'm prepping for an interview and I'm finding that some subsets of advice are literally contradicting themselves....Anyone have a good "wrong path" advice story?

Here's a general pattern i have seen. Most individuals will give you advice that would lead you to become them. That can be ok if you want to emulate their life/career, but it isn't helpful if you want something else. Try to seek out mentors that understand you and will tailor advice to your specific goals.
