Any Monitor Alumni Here?

Hi there,

I'm interested in gaining a bit of insight into how well Monitor alumni do after they leave the firm. Does the firm offer to pay for B-school, allow its analysts to try out corporate gigs etc.? Also, is the alumni network powerful enough to open some doors to hot jobs?

Thanks!

Not an alumni, but I know a guy who was at Monitor for 2 yrs and now is getting his MBA at a M7 and was most recently as a summer associate at a Top 10 PE fund

Do not know if they sponsor for b-school or allow externships in industry ... but MBB and Deloitte/Accenture/Oliver Wyman/LEK/etc. do so I imagine to 'keep up with the Joneses' they may very well.

And yes, the network both internally and externally is strong enough to help significantly in the b-school admissions process.

Can you elaborate what firms also have a strong network to help for bschool? How does this help?

MBB and the following top consulting firms are packed with people who attended the M7 and other top b-schools, know people who attended the other schools, and know people who work at those schools. Being part of a consulting agency is phenomenal for people who are definite in their plans to achieve an MBA. If you commit two years to the firm afterwards, they will fund your MBA (and typically a little extra so you can survive), bring in reps from each of the top schools to give you the inside track on the admissions process, and essay coaches for the qualitative components of your application.
