A.T. Kearney vs Simon-Kucher
All - I have been very fortunate to receive MBA summer offers for both A.T. Kearney and Simon-Kucher & Partners. Both are in the United States in the same major city.
I'm struggling to decide which offer is "better" given the following parameters:
-Prestige
-Work
-Culture
-Pay
-International Opportunities
-Mentorship / Development Opportunities (Learning)
-Internal Mobility / Turnover (Promotions)
-Exit Opportunities
Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
A.T. Kearney has the more respectable name of the 2 in terms of competing for projects. Doubt many people will know much about the rest.
Surprised by the question. There is no doubt...obviously A.T. Kearney.
ATK is an mid/upper Tier-2 firm, along with LEK, OW, Marakon, ZS. They are also currently on a strong growth trajectory having recently announced high double digit growth for 2013.
Simon-Kucher is probably closer lower Tier-2 / upper Tier-3, though from what I understand, they have a strong value proposition for those willing to stick it through with the firm.
Ultimately, I'd ask myself two things: (1) Do I plan to make a career out of consulting, or is this a stepping stone?, and (2) what firm do I fit best with?
-If you plan to make a career out of consulting, then choose the firm where you fit best and which gives you access to the most interesting projects (most interesting for you that is). This could mean either of the two firms.
-If you are just transitioning through, then A.T. Kearney as they are the clear frontrunner in terms of prestige, etc.
