BCG: Business Analyst vs Associate Position
Anyone here who has information regarding the difference between business analyst and associate position?
I see on LinkedIn that some BCG offices has business analysts. Do I need to specifically apply for business analyst position or this is determined later in the process?
The MBB titles are kind of confusing. All 3 have entry level positions for undergrad and graduate degrees (MBA, JD, MD, PHD, MA, MS, ETC.) but call them something different.
McKinsey is Business Analyst (BA) for undergrad and Associate for graduate Bain is Associate Consultant (AC) for undergrad and Consultant for graduate BCG is Associate for undergrad and Consultant for graduate
So to answer your question, BCG does NOT have a BA position. The associate position at BCG is the undergrad position. I can't really find people on Linkedin from BCG listing BA as their position. Maybe whatever you found is either a legacy title, or just wrong. Or maybe it's a title name in one of the non-consulting/client facing roles?
I think the BCG Business Analyst position is present in non-US offices.
Don't think so http://careers.bcg.com/path/roles_consulting.aspx
As per Role, An analyst position is at the entry-level in many consulting firms where as in contrast, associates are usually seen as long-term hires. Associates have more responsibility than analysts, and are beginning to take on a leadership role. Essentially, associates work over and direct analysts.

Heard there is a business analyst role before the associate role at offices in developing markets.
My senior listed himself as BA: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/rinaldi-juwono/55/532/1a4
But my other senior does not: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/iki-sari-dewi/4a/773/384
The BCG SEA website also shows that career path starts as Associate: http://www.bcgsea.com/careers/career_growth/career_path/default.aspx
