BCG FT Early Application

I was poking around my school's BCG website and I saw that there was a July 16 application deadline in addition to the normal September 8th deadline. This is the first I have heard of a dual deadline process where a candidate can choose. Is it to accommodate interns at other firms trying to re-recruit?

Is there any tangible advantage or disadvantage to either deadline?

Different groups of candidates have different deadlines (e.g. undergrads, MBAs, PhDs). If I remember correctly summer deadline is for PhDs/JDs/MDs and September one for MBAs. Not sure about other groups. There is an early deadline (now) for those who want to start asap.

That's what I thought originally, but the website header says XYZ school undergraduate. The description says to choose whatever timeline you prefer based on how prepared you are.

It's just so strange and not something I have seen in my experience with summer intern recruitment. Really makes me curious whether there are differences between the competitiveness/ whether they are evaluated in the same way.
