Boutique Consultancy -> Exit Opps/MBB?

I have joined a no-name boutique with an industry niche. It sees itself being top of its game in that industry and pay is circa £50k incl. bonus as starting. I graduated from a top course at a top uni but with a 2.1 grade. I was wondering what my options were in terms of exit opps/potential to upgrade to MBB in the future. Is it completely out of the question and if not MBB will a good industry role be an option.

Essentially just wondering what my prospects are from here. The company has attracted talent from top unis (think Oxbridge) but I feel as though I am potentially limiting my career by starting here and was wondering if anyone with experience of this area could shed some light. Thanks

Do they have a strong client roster (major players) in their industry?

I can only speak for BCG, but in my experience, we usually give at least some consideration to lateral hires for boutique consulting experience, even if the boutique isn't well known. Credentializing yourself by having a good school on your resume and having worked for major clients (even if you can't name them) helps a lot. Beyond that, it's the usual networking game - you basically need a referral. Once you're in the interview process, your resume doesn't matter as much anymore.

MBB won't be the easiest exit, but it's certainly doable if you can network well.
